In recent years, some parts of the US have experienced severe weather events that have resulted in prolonged power outages, affecting millions of people.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Physical attacks on the power grid, such as sabotage, foreign threats or terrorism, could also cause widespread power outages, and if not taken care of quickly, could have devastating effects on the very fabric of our society, even leading to mass starvation. Physical attacks on the U.S. power grid are currently rising year-by-year. <br /> <br /> <br /> While such attacks are a huge concern for National Security experts and policymakers. Another growing concern is the vulnerability of the power grid to cyberattacks. The increasing use of computer systems and digital networks to control and monitor the power grid has made it more vulnerable to cyber threats. Hackers could potentially gain access to power grid systems and cause disruptions or even cause physical damage to power infrastructure.
